Pioneers in the sector
As a manufacturer and supplier of medical single-use products, we attach great importance to ensuring that our products, services and processes are as environmentally friendly as possible. As pioneers in our sector, we are proud to meet the strict requirements of the Medical Device Regulation (MDR), making us a leader in the pursuit of sustainability.
Reducing waste
One of our main objectives is to reduce hospital waste. We achieve this, among other things, by minimizing the use of packaging and promoting the use of sustainable materials for our single-use products. We continue to closely monitor developments in the field of sustainable innovations and single-use products and integrate them into our activities where possible.
ISO 14001 certificate
Our commitment to sustainability is further reinforced by our ISO 14001 certificate, which we obtained in November 2020. This certificate is an internationally recognized standard that sets requirements for our environmental management system. We hereby commit to developing and maintaining a policy aimed at reducing our environmental impact.
With the focus on sustainability
At Medica Europe we focus on various aspects of sustainability. For example, we buy as many products as possible in bulk to minimize residual waste. We consciously manage and limit our waste flows and, where possible, choose materials with a lower environmental impact. In addition, we strive for responsible use of raw materials and auxiliary materials and we deal responsibly with unavoidable hazardous substances.

With attention for sustainability
At Medica Europe we pay attention to various aspects of sustainability. For example, we buy as many products unpacked as possible to minimize residual waste. We consciously manage and limit our waste flows and, where possible, choose materials with a lower environmental impact. In addition, we strive for responsible use of raw materials and auxiliary materials and we deal responsibly with unavoidable hazardous substances.
Through our sustainability efforts, we not only aim to reduce our ecological footprint, but also contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.
• Purchasing unsterile products in unpacked as much as possible to minimize residual waste.
• Conscious management and limitation of waste flows.
• If possible, choose materials with less environmental impact in terms of properties or production methods.
• Responsible use of required raw materials and consumables.
• Responsible handling of unavoidable hazardous substances.
One of our priorities is waste reduction, where we minimize waste flows and promote efficient recycling by bringing similar material together. A concrete example of our commitment is the 'Cuff First dispensing' principle, which optimizes the dispensing of gloves.
In addition, we use mono-materials where possible, including our recyclable 100% SMS wrap for surgical gowns, which is also residual material from our Euroguard Tray Wraps. We are also investigating whether we can apply more environmentally friendly sterilization methods. Would you like to know more about which products are eligible for collection for recycling? We have implemented strict waste separation and disposal procedures, allowing us to process our waste efficiently. To optimize this even further, we use a plastic and cardboard press, which allows us to make our waste more compact and makes its processing even more environmentally friendly. In addition, we have invested in an electric fleet, with which we reduce our CO2 emissions and contribute to cleaner air.
But sustainability goes beyond just waste processing and mobility. We have also taken our lighting to a greener level by replacing hundreds of 'traditional' lamps with energy-efficient LED lamps. As a result, we significantly reduce our energy consumption and contribute to lower CO2-emission.
On our path to becoming more sustainable, we have also reconsidered our choice of coffee. We have consciously chosen CO2-neutral, regional coffee, so that we not only enjoy delicious coffee, but also contribute to a sustainable working environment and support the local economy.
And as the final addition to our sustainable initiatives, we introduce our new reusable tableware. This tableware replaces single-use tableware and contributes to reducing our waste and promoting re-use. In this way we are taking steps towards an even more sustainable future.
All our sustainability efforts are supported by our use of sustainable paper (FSC) for all our documents. In this way, we are committed to a greener world, in which we use our resources consciously and contribute to a livable planet for future generations.
In close collaboration with our logistics partner, Vos Logistics, we strive to reduce CO2-emission and limit transport movements. We achieve this, among other things, by unpacked purchasing of unsterile products and delivering larger quantities at fixed times.
Vos Logistics contributes to this effort with a fleet of trucks, including fully electric vehicles with 0% CO2-emission and extra-long trailers. They also have BREEAM-certified sustainable warehouses. Our sustainable network is not limited to Vos Logistics; sustainability is an integral part of the business processes of all our partners and suppliers.
